Gift baskets for tea, the perfect gift for any tea lover. What would be the perfect thing to find in a special basket like this one? As an avid bulk tea drinker myself, finding those loose leaves in a gift basket would make it special to me. A lot of luck though, trying to find this type of basket. I was disappointed to find that most of the companies offering tea gift baskets fill them with many treats along with tea bags. Offering tea bags to a true tea lover is comparable to offering a lightening white to a wine connoisseur.
What is the answer to this dilemma? Make the tea gift basket yourself. Don’t be intimidated, you can do it. Today I’m going to give you three tips to get started creating beautiful tea gifts. You won’t break the bank even while doing it.

You will need a basket or container to hold your gift items. Here’s a great tip, buy containers right after the holidays, when prices are getting low. I often get beautiful baskets with a 50% to 80% retail discount. Why, because they are decorated in some way for a particular holiday and that holiday has passed. Retailers need to move inventory out of their stores.
I’ll be saving some of the containers for that same holiday next year. Others will have the ornaments or decorations removed. I recently made a basket just because it gives a discovery after Christmas. It was completely covered with a green felt with ornaments. The cover was easy to remove and the basket became a perfect container for any occasion.
Definitely use good quality loose-leaf tea in your basket. Again, you don’t have to break the bank to do this. Buy tea samples. Many companies offer this small size to allow consumers to see if they love a particular tea and want to buy more. This removes the barrier of trying something new for fear of wasting money. This makes it a win-win situation for both the consumer and the retailer. Consumers are more willing to make a small purchase, but often give up on spending more on something they are not sure they will appreciate. The retailer wins because those teas that the customer really likes will buy them again and again.
I’ve also found some companies that have great teas that send you a free sample with a purchase. You can’t get any less than that. Use these swatches to insert your tea gift.
This type of gift basket will always have some tea products. Scones are a favorite food to serve with tea. Instead of buying from an expensive bakery, make the scones yourself. I cook the scones and freeze them. After having frozen them I put them under vacuum. This keeps them fresh for a long time. Many years ago I bought a Food Saver vacuum cleaner which has saved me a lot of money over the years. This item proved to be worth the purchase cost.
If you don’t have access to this type of device, you can still wrap your handmade gift perhaps in several layers of saran film or aluminum foil. If you have to use this method, I recommend wrapping them in fabric or gift wrapping paper complete with a bow to add to the look of the gift baskets for tea.
